- People who have nice unrocky land and who can afford a horse make drills. They plough and harrow it first. Then they get the plough and make it into drills. The put manure in the "furrows" and spreat it. Then they get some little boy or girl and they leave the "splits". A man comes after the child with the horse, and plough and close the drills. About a week or a fortnight after they scuffle the "shoughs" and "set" them with the plough. When the stalks are up middling big, they mould them.
Other people who can't afford a horse make ridges. They first pay a man to plough and harrow the land. If it is a big field they get the man to "score" it, and if it is only a garden they score it with the spade.
