On a "set" day such at Christmas day or a day they would have men working, they would buy a stone of flour and make a cake of it.
They baked oaten meal cakes on a [?] and theyh made the oaten meal cakes by mixing the oaten meal with (with) water.
Long ago people had a handmill called a quern where they used to grind corn and make oaten meal.
