  1. Bowling was largely carried on in this district long ago. Crowds of men would gather near cross roads or public houses and they used to come long distances.
    They used to make a match of three or six at a side the first six would take a bowl each and put it as far as they would be able to.
    Then the second six would do the same thing which ever side would put the bowl the farthest would have the bet won. Generally on
