  1. The landlords in this district long ago were the Vandeleurs. They owned the district for over a hundred years. There were a few people in the district put out of their lands for not paying their rent.
    When they were evicted some of them lived in cabins and others in their neighbour's houses. Some of the landlords raised armies of their own and fought for the land against the Irish. The landlords divided his estate into farms which he rented to Catholic farmers.
    Most of the landlords lived in England. They employed [?] agents who collected the rent. The agents were much worse than the landlords. Marcus Keane was the agent for the Vandeleurs. He came to Labasheeda the nearest village a couple of times in the year to gather the rent. If the people did not pay the rent their stock was taken or if they had
