At the back of the fire-place there is a large bellows, with a pipe going under the fire which supplies a draught to it to keep it lighting.
This bellows is worked by [twisting] a handle in it.
The principal implements in a forge are, the anvil, sledge, hammer, punch, vice, rasp, hoof-knife, tongs, and a drill.
There is also an iron trough filled with water, which the smith uses for cooling hot irons.
There is said to be a great cure for warts in this water.
The smith repairs all kinds of machinery, as well as making horseshoes, ploughs, and gates.
