  1. 1. It was custom to have people going with word of a match to a lady's house, and then they settled a day, to visit the house of the gentleman spoken about.
    2. A week after that, the bride's father holds a dance, it was called "Contraction Night", on that night the wedding day is settled.
    3. It was a custom for the bride, not to take her presents to her future home until Friday.
    4. It was a custom to throw a shoe at the window of the car, as well as tying it.
    5. It is considered unlucky to be married in the month of May or September.
    6. In olden days the wife used to sit on the horse with her husband. There used to be a cushion on the horse called a "pillion".
