  1. Ruins There are the ruins of an old Catholic Church in Maughera which was built before Cromwell came to Ireland and the gable is all that is standing at the present day. The entrance to the Church-yard is through the field of Laurence Fitzsimmons of Maughera. They never can close the gate at night because if they closed it, it would be opened in the morning.
There are the ruins of what was once a wind-mill in Enagh East in the parish of Cross. it was built by a descendant of the late James Flood, Granard Street, Ballyjamesduff, who fell while building it and was killed. So the unfinished building is left there yet because no one else went any further with it. As much of it as he built was in the shape of a churn. It was three or four storeys high and there are a number of windows on it. it is supposed to be two hundred years, therefore it was built about the year 1737. There are no strange stories being told about it.
