  1. Marriages
Long ago the people would never get married unless on certain months and days.
When they had the month chosen, they had a rhyme they used to say to find what the day had in store for them.
    Monday for wealth
    Tuesday for health
And Wednesday is the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for crosses
And Saturday is no day at all.
The months that were supposed to be lucky were January, June, October, and the unlucky one was May. On Shrove Tuesday they used to make pancakes, rashers and eggs, they used to then turn the pan, and never use it till Easter Sunday. They used never get married unless matches were made. The two fathers used to make the match. Money and a sow was given to the bride.
