    and sometimes makes wedding cakes. Before he came the shopkeepers had to get bread from Dundalk and Drogheda. In Kilconny there is a Mineral Water Factory and Saw Mills which give employment to a number of men. There is a Boot Factory in the old Military Barracks. It supplies an English Factory with heels, toe-puffs and heel stiffeners. There are about forty employees including boys and girls. The manager of the factory is an Englishman. Last year the river was drained to prevent it from overflowing its banks. Down at Derravona and other places the land used to be flooded.
    As Belturbet is within two miles of the Fermanagh border the trade of the town has gone down considerably. Some people who used to come to the fairs and markets now go to Enniskillen.
