    Christmas she spent under water,
    And on till the dawning New Year;
    Then she was raised to the surface,
    And onward once more, she did steer.

    Now she lies lonely deserted,
    Awaiting her sentence and doom,
    Which must come from Drainage Headquarters
    And that before long, I presume.

    For the end it is quickly approaching;
    The workers have all disappeared,
    Except for a few of the yard-men
    Where the stores have quickly been cleared

    No more at the end of a fortnight,
    "Black Pat" with his bag will be round;
    Content we must be with Mc. Kiernan's
    Till other employments be found
    XIX and XX
    So farewell to the strangers amongst us,
    Who depart, and yet have to go;
    We wish them all peace and prosperity
    That a bountiful God can bestow.
    Like farewell to my comrades; The Captain and crew of the boat;
    Let us hope we'll man her again, boys,
    If ever she chance to refloat.
