  1. There are many homely remedies which if known would alleviate pain.
    A good remedy for a gumboil is a stupe of poppy.
    This stupe is made by boiling two or three poppy heads in a quart of water for one hour.
    There is also an excellent remedy for toothache.
    It should be sued just before going to bed and on no account should any of the liquid be swallowed.
    Salt will also give relief
