- If any person got married Shrove Tuesday, that night they had a big feast and they invited all their friends to the house. The woman of the house generally began to make pancakes, and they are the pancakes that would please you, if you could be pleased.
- The old people had great belief in drinking black tea on Ash Wednesday. They would not eat any food of any kind that day. They also kept Lent on some thing that they were in the habit of taking.(continues on next page)
