    fast like this, they use no milk on their tea. Long ago the people would have oat meal bread or else a loaf for Ash Wednesdays and Fridays in Lent. The people used to go away to some lonely place and pray and eat only one meal a day and that would be bread and water. This was giving satisfaction to God for their sins.
