  1. In olden times there were twenty one on each side on any team, The best football field around here in olden times was Casino in Avondale. The football match around here in olden times was nearly always between two townlands. Mr. J. Jordan was counted the best player in Wicklow.
    The teams around here in olden wore orddianry togs the colours of the different jerseys were, Avondale, blue and white, Wicklow town, blue, Arklow red and green
    If there was a good player in the field he would be selected to referee the game.
