  1. The old graveyards around here are Kilcommon, Glendalough, Whaley Abbey and Ballycoogue.
    In Kilcommon graveyard there is a tombstone with two holes in it, it is said that two musket balls went through it in 1798. Some of the inscriptions on the headstones are almost unreadable because the graveyard was there in the fifteenth century. There are the ruins of a church in Kilcommon. In Whaley Abbey there are two dates and they are 1343 and 1376. On a headstone in Ballycoogue is incribed "here lies the body of John Clancy who died of hunger. There is no date on it.
