  1. There is only one holy well in our district. It is Saint Lawrence O'Toole's well.
    It is in the townland of Brittas in a field called Lawrence's Park.
    No people visit it now.
    No prayers are said at it now but they used to be said years ago.
    The people never said prayers at it this two hundred years.
    This is a remarkable well as the water in it is cold enough in Summer to give people toothache and in Winter it is as warm as if it were hung over the fire for five minutes.
    Years ago there was a wooden cross over the well but no trace of it remains there now.
    The were spirits seen on the road over it.
