- Bread was made from oats that was grown on the farms locally. The oats was made into oaten meal and the bread was made from it.
- The kinds of bread are flour bread, oaten bread, potato bread, wheaten bread, and boxty bread.
- Long ago bread was made from oaten meal. The meal was wetted with cold water but nothing else was put in it. It was baked on a griddle. It took the same to bake as a flour cake.
