    nothing till o'clock in the day. The food they used was bread without butter and tea without milk. They used to eat two meals a day. It was called the "black fast".

  2. Long ago bread was made from oaten meal. The meal was wetted with cold water but nothing else was put in it. It was then baked on a griddle. It took the same time to bake as a flour cake.
