  1. The glass of the churn is always clear or some people know by the rattle of the milk in the churn when the butter is done. Our churn is five years old.

  2. There is a glass on the lid about the size of a half-crown. It is known by this glass when the churning is finished. When the glass is clear the churning is finished. The cream has to be heated.
