  1. I received the following account from Mr. William Graham. Grange, who is 84 years of age at present, and he got this information from his father, John Graham. Grange. who died about 50 years ago at the age of 96.
    " "Cahir na gCapall" or 'Charles of the horses' was of noble descent, being the last of the O' Dempseys of Lea castle, Leix. He was a noted Rapparee. and in a cave high up on the mountain summit in the Blackstairs Range, he had his chief hide-out, where he put horses taken from the Williamite planters, between whom and himself no love was lost.
