  1. In the year 1798 Mr Roche lived in a house near Kilmore. In the night himself and his son and his wife used to be afraid to stop at the home for fear of the Redcoats or Yeomen. They used to go in the deep trenches at night time and stay there until the morning. If the Redcoats went in to the house the woman put a stick in the window to show th eson and the husband that the Redcoats were there One day she forgot to put the stick in the window.
