    would serve nearly the same purpose,a s the new light-house at the Spit of Passage. A light in this old Church of St. Anns would bring ships clear of Seedy's bank above Ballyhack on the east shore. This bank runs the Channel very narrow up to the entrance of Port Saint. Marys. to the out bound ships those Church beacons would serve the same useful purpose, the former an elaborate system of beacon lights for the safe navigation of Waterford Harbour.
