    A Local Ruin
    31st May, 1938.
    Of all the various ruins that are in the county of Longford the one I am most interested in is the ruins of a Church, which is situated on "Inch Island" in the middle of Loch Gowna in the parish of Colmcille, Co. Longford.
    It was built by St Colmcille and called "Teampeall Coluim-Cille". His churches were at first structures of very humble appearance. His present church on "Inish Mor" was built of solid masonary which has withstood the wind and weather of a thousand years or perhaps much longer. The first religious institution on Inish Mor dates back to the days of Saint Patrick.
    The ruin is there plain to be seen and is now platted
