  1. About fifty years ago there was a school in the church yard of Cullyfad. The teachers name that taught there was Master Reilly.
There was also a school in Esker and one in Carriglass. The teacher in Carriglass was Miss Ashcroft.
The old Convent in Longford was where the boys National school is at present. The remains of the old school that stood in Lisnanagh can still be seen. Clonahard school stood beyond the railway bridge in Greegs field. The school in Esker was burned by the Black and Tans.
