  1. Mrs Malone, Meedin, Tyrellspass remembers a funeral coming to Castletown Geoghegan from Garhy - Brigid Farrell R.I.P. She died young and all the school children went in the funeral procession. As the coffin was been taken out a number of old women twelve to twenty raised the caoine. forming fours across the road and marched across the road after the coffin keening all the way one half the women, one verse, then the other, the next half verse on a note a little higher, you couldn't think of any thing to sound so sorrowful and never disisted till she was laid in the grave.
    On one other occasion Mrs. Malone remembers the same caoine - Mrs. Wyer a native of Garhy also, both these events would be over sixty years ago.
