  1. The leprechaun
A leprechaun is a small man about two feet in height. He lives in the hills and plains of Ireland. He wears a knee breeches, a red coat and a beret like hat. If you are walking on a bright moon-light night you would see a leprechaun sitting under a tree mending his boots.
He sits on a cáise púca with a boot on a small last on his knee. The trees all around him are decorated with boots.
Long ago there lived an old woman and her daughter Jean. they were as poor as church mice. One evening Jean was going for a bundle of sticks. Soon she heard a noise like the sound of a hammer behind a tree stump. She went over to the stump and what did she see but a leprechaun mending his boots.
