  1. The local fairs
    The Castlepollard fair is held in the Square and was held there as there is no green near the town.
    sometimes the buyers buy away from the fair chiefly during the lamb season when buyers go to the farmers houses and by lambs. When there is a stall fed for sale the jobbers go to the man's house and offer money for the animal. Long ago men would go around on the eve of the fair looking for cattle to buy but this destroyed the fair.
    The cattle fair is held on the second Tuesday of every month and the pig fair on the day before. There is no horse fair held there.
