  1. Shops were not very common in olden times and people used to go to the nearest town to make purchases.
    In former days labour was given in exchange for goods.
    There were words connected with selling such as "Boot" "Tick" and "Cant. It is considered unlucky to transact business on certain days such as on Sundays.
    Markets were held in former days put they are not so much held now, dealers in rags used to visit the district and give delph instead of the rags.
    The various coins are referred to as "florins" "half-crowns"
