    In olden days, the people of Drogheda knew the uses and cures of herbs. They would boil chicken-weed grownsel and oatmeal to make poultices for boils and abscesses. Another cure made from herbs was marshmallow. It was a cure for pains and sprains. It would be boiled down and the affected parts of the body stuped in it juices. Young dandelions were another cure greatly in use among the older people living in Louth. They would boil it for a cure for chest and lung trouble. Watercress
