    would put flowers around the bush. Then they would have some music, and often the neighbours who had no manure heap of their own would go to a house where there was one. They would remain there until mid-night. The greatest delight of evening was the taking of May bush from one another.
    They also said that May was an unlucky month for getting married. It was also thought unlucky to bring the May flower into the house.
