    hair off the side with a scissors or writing the name on their backs with raddle. A "luck penny" was given with each animal sold and this varied with the price of each animal.
    An old man who was called Calf's Basket, sat at the corner, and made all sorts of baskets which he sold at different prices.
    The nearest fair is held now in Ardee, on last Wednesday of each month. Another is held in Drogheda every month, and a big horse fair is held every May and October.
