  1. About three miles north of Ennis stands an old ruin situated in a lonely spot called Killone.
    It was founded by Donal OBrien in the year 1190. In 1649 when Cromwell's army destroyed all the Monasteries and beautiful Churches, Killone Abbey met with the same fate. Its beautiful walls of Roman structure were burned. There is nothing to be seen now but an old ruin inside of which are many graves of Parishioners.
