- Long ago people used not wear boots until they were sixteen years of age. In this locality there is no account of people who were bare-footed in the past. Old people that do not wear boots are not counted normaly mentally. During the Summer months children go bare-footed. After washing feet the water is thrown away to commemorate that done by Our Lord at the Last Supper.
Boots are made in this district and are also mended. Shoemakers are more plentiful now than they were long ago.- Informant
