There is an old slate house not far from my home...

There is an old slate house not far from my home. There is only one man living in it. Long ago there were two families living there. It was a thatched house then but it was changed to a slate one. Those people kept a cow in the kitchen and two hens and a cock over the door. They said it was good luck to keep two hens and a cock in the house at night. Mike Hickey is living in it now. There is a clay floor in it. The fire is in the gable-end. There are some slates off of this house. It is built near a stream.
