    Rich palaces - mansions rise
    So dazzling to the eye;
    They almost hide the poverty
    Which lurches closely by.
    Invention on invention springs
    From Genius and from Art
    To satiate the cravings of
    The pleasure-seeker's heart.
    For pleasure holds the heart of man
    Where Mammon rules at God _
    The sacred words which urge restraint
    All underfoot are trod.
    Religious cant is just something
    For silly fools or slaves.
    Who talk of God, are glibly dubbedSky-pilots, fools or knaves.
    I see them flit around the globe
    In butterfly attire;
    This world is not big enough
    To satisfy desire.
    They masquerade in sacred garb
    And walk the street in shrouds,
    They honeymoon in submarines
    And wed among the clouds,
    To create a strange sensation_
