    I know a lovely valley,
    On it shines the sun,
    There bloom the fairest wild flpwers,
    The silveriest streamlets run;
    When Nature earth's design conceived
    This lovely vale she planned,
    To rest her noblest works therein-
    To lodge her master hand.

    When gath'ring clouds, on Autumn eves,
    Bespeak approaching night,
    Above the charming valley scene,
    Sots parting rays unite,
    And linger here in mixed embrace,
    As if they longed to gaze
