    On many a foreign strand;
    I've ranged the flowery scenes among
    Of many a sunny land;
    Where Northern lights in glory shine,
    I've seen strange sights but still,
    My vile heart never wandered from
    The Cot upon the Hill.

    Within our own sea-girted isle,
    There's many a lovely spot,
    Well worthy of the poets theme,
    By nature's hand begot
    Beside Lough Lene's fairy lake
    I've felt my pulses thrill
    But never do they throb as in
