  1. Forges long ago were very different to the forges now a days. They had no machinery in those days and everything was made by hand.
    Ploughs, spades, shovels, pigrings, horse nails, and other things were made in those forges. They made cranes, tongs, pots, hooks and boot nails were also made there.
    There was one of those old forges in Boolatin and one in Doonane.
