  1. The local Poets we heard of in this parish were Larry Dillin, John Brannigan, John Meara, and Timothy Quinlan. Larry Dillon was a farmer; a native of Rathcabbin. We do not know when he was born but he died about one hundred years ago and was buried in Lorrha. The song's he composed were the "Bucaillín Doman"; "the Blooming Shades of sweet Bellisle"; and the "Plains round Knockshegowna". John Brennan was born in this parish. He was educated and he put grammer into Larry Dillons song's. The trade he had was masonery and he is dead about sixty years. John Meara is dead about four years. Timothy Quinlan joined the army and he died in Australia. The poems he composed were about Lorrha. There was also a poet in Lorrha called E. Sefton and he wrote a poem about
