  1. The local fairs.
    The local fair is held in Ballybrood on the 12th June. Fairs are usually held in towns. Butchers often transact business at farmers' houses. This is still done.
    Fairs were held formerly which have now been discontinued because they were far from railway stations.
    Town fairs are held in fairgreens, but some of them are held in the street.
    The person gives sixpence toll on each animal.
    When an animal is sold luck money is given. it is called a luck-penny.
    When a bargain is made the buyer asks the seller to hold out his hand. Then the buyer spits on his own hand and strikes his own hand and strikes the outstretched hand. The animals are marked with a raddle.
