  1. Boils
    A solution of sugar and red soap is put to the boil to cure it. A snail is crushed and applied as a poultice. Hot water is put into a bottle, then poured out again and the mouth of the bottle is put to the boil and the steam draws out the matter.
    Whooping-cough
    The first man seen riding a white horse is asked for a cure for whooping-cough and the instructions he gives must be carefully carried out.
    Measles
    Measles are cured by giving milk to a ferret, then his leavings are given to the child ailing.
    Sprain
    The juice is extracted from comfrey and then applied to a sprain as a cure. The sore foot is also bathed in a stream.
