  1. Collection of Prayers.
    Amongst the old people there were many beautiful short prayers, and many of them were in the Irish language. The prayer of pious salutation "Dia's Muire was in everyone's mouth, when he or she entered a house, or met each other.
    "God bless the work", was always spoken when a person entered a garden or fields or workshop, where men would be at work. In praising a crop of any kind, or praising a cow or other animal, a person would say "God bless it". The old people always thanked God for gifts as they always believed that everything carries through the prayer of God, and in thanking Him, they used to say "Praise be to God", even
