    There is an old legend connected with Gleann na gCapall from which it got its name.

    There is an old legend connected with Gleann na gCapall from which it got its name. Long ago a woman was saving hay near the aforesaid church of Killough holehane. The day was very warm and feeling very thirsty she went into the church and drank the wine from the chalice. In punishment for her sacrilege she was change into a white horse and plough and condemned to plough up and down the steep sides of Gleann na gCapall cliffs until she had ploughed out a roadway.
