    men of ancient Éire, the stonework is second to none in any part of Ireland. The oldest resident scarcely remembers anyone to be buried there, but signs of graves are quite plain to be seen. Quite adjacent to the church is an ancient fort, thickly hedged all round. This fort is surrounded by another bigger one, and this by still another larger one. The true history of Cloun Eilte seems to be lost except occasional pieces of knowledge among the old people. It might be of some importance to mention an account of the church. Its total length is forty feet ; it breadth is twenty one feet. There is one gable end and two walls in perfect condition.
