  1. Wran Song
    The Wran, the wran, the king of all birds,
    St. Stephan's day he was caught in the furze;
    We hunted him up, we hunted him down,
    At last one of our wran-boys knocked him down.
    Sing Holly, sing Ivy, sing Ivy, sing Holly.
    Tis but a good Christmas, tis but a folly;
    Christmas comes but once a year.
    And when it comes, it brings a New Year.
    The wran, the wran, as you may see.
    Is guarded up on a holly tree;
    A bunch of ribbons by his side,
    And the Glen boys to be his guide.
    Up with the kettle, and down with the pan,
    Give us our answer, and lave us be gone.
    Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
