On Kanturk Race night, it was I got the fright.

    On Kanturk Race night,
It was I got the fright.
When I was going home to my father
I thought I would die as a boat I did spy
A ship sailing down by the Araglen water
    Chorus
A boat on the Araglen stream.
Oh now do not think 'twas a dream
For the sails were as plain,
As the ship in the main,
Was the boat sailing down by Kiskeam.
    II
    I turned back and sped
    Up the Bohreen indread
What I ne'er did before night or day
    Into the "Shamrock's" I went
    And took a good drink,
Of Whiskey to listen my fright.
    Chorus
    III
I took "Jack the Lord" that night for a guard
