On Kanturk races' night 'twas I got the fright...

    On Kanturk races night,
    t’was I got the fright
When I was going home to my father,
I thought I would die when a boat I did spy,
Sailing down in the Araglen water.
    I turned back and fled
    Up the boreen in dread
When I ne’er did before day or night
    To the shamrocks I went
    and took a good drink
Of whiskey to lessen my fright.
    I took Jack the Lord,
round the road for a guard
To convey me that night to my home.
