  1. In olden times the landlord of Derryleigh was Rev. John Naughton. He was Parish Priest of Boherbue, and when he died he left the land to the Bishop of Kerry, who was landlord until it was purchased in 1903.
    His agent was Mr. Carney who lived in Killarney. He compelled the tenants to go back to Killarney with their horses, and remain for a week drawing turf for him. The O'Connor family has been living in Derryleigh for about two hundred years, and my father is the fourth generation which lived in our house.
