    hungry and he thought by stealing the cow he would be transported or put into prison where he would obtain something to eat.
    2) There was a man living in this district during the famine and he had three children but they had no food, to eat as their father was very poor. One day the children died and the father had no money to buy a coffin so that he had to bury them coffinless. He took them to the bog and buried them in a bog-hole. A few weeks afterwards there was a great flood. One morning the mother went out and there were the three children floating on top of the water.
    3) There were a man and a woman living about three miles to the west of the village and they had a very large family. Every Christmas night their diet was as
