  1. In former times Paynes of Upton House were landlords of this district including Clashanimud, Russell Hill, Garryhankard and Brinny. They had been settled there since the time of Shaun Dearg Nash a very far back landlord. They were looked upon as good landlords.
    A few evictions took place during their reign but the most of their tenants considered them reasonable. In former times the tenants had to supply their landlord with eggs and other produce off their farms including the rent of if not they were heavily punished.
    Tithes were collected in this district in former times and given to support the Protestant church body.
